Lanzarote Holidays Guide
Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands greatest attractions. Average
daytime temperatures for the summer are in the high twenties yet
Lanzarote is still hot in the winter. January day time temperatures
are above 20° celcius making Lanzarote the ideal winter destination.
Rain is a rare event although a pullover is recommended for winter
nights.
The canary island of Lanzarote is small, only 12 miles wide and
37 miles long. It is situated just 70 odd miles off the coast of
Africa the reason for its magnificant climate. The island is of
volcanic origin and is home to the Timanfaya
national park one of the most visited parks in Spain. Its dry climate
and new volcanic landscapes give Lanzarote an interesting charachter.
Lanzarote has some of the best white sand beaches in the Canary
Islands owing to deposits of sand from the Sahara desert. These
make an interesting alternative to the dark volcanic beaches also
on the island.
